About
CFIDS:
Chronic
Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome is also
called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and Myalgic
Encephalomyelitis (ME) elsewhere in the world.
CFIDS is a debilitating and complex syndrome that
is characterized by profound fatigue, which is
not improved by bed rest and may be exacerbated
by physical or mental activity. Persons with
CFIDS most often function at substantially lower
levels of activity from their pre-onset
capacities. In addition to these defining
characteristics, CFIDS is also associated with a
diverse array of symptoms including, for example,
cognitive difficulties, impaired sleep, flu-like
symptoms such as pain in the joints and muscles,
gastrointestinal symptoms, and orthostatic
intolerance.
About
Fibromyalgia:
Fibromyalgia
Syndrome (FMS) or (FM) is a widespread
musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for
which the cause is still unknown. Fibromyalgia
means pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons,
the fibrous tissues in the body. Most patients
with fibromyalgia say that they ache all over.
Their muscles may feel like they have been pulled
or overworked. Sometimes the muscles twitch and
at other times they burn. FM may resemble a
post-viral state and this is why several experts
in the field of FM and CFIDS believe that these
two syndromes are one and the same.
